Authentify|Register reduces the cost of trusted self
service registration and profile maintenance activities while enabling

real time self service fully auditable registration and issuance process
for VeriSign OnSite digital certificates. The Authentify process employs
an automated outbound telephone call - synchronized with a web based
registration session - for real time out-of-band delivery of shared
secret information.
Compelling Reason:
Distribution of shared secrets to enable the activation
of a digital certificate is a time consuming, error prone and expensive
process. Authentify provides the only mechanism for self-service, automated,
real time out-of-band delivery of shared secret information. The Authentify
process reduces mean time to receiving a certificate while actually
improving the audit trail and trust model.
Application Example:
A prototypical VeriSign OnSite registration process
must include the distribution of some type of shared secret information
via a trusted channel to a certificate recipient (subject) to illustrate
that the RA "knows" the subject. This information is typically
mailed or delivered manually by telephone. The Authentify process enables
the RA to enter "trusted" phone numbers for subjects, then
automated the delivery of shared secret information via the telephone.
