Dispute Policy

VeriSign is committed to fostering continued use of the ICANN-approved Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) by registrars, end users, and third parties. Additionally, VeriSign continues to recommend to registrars that during the testbed they consider deleting any internationalized second level domain name registration upon receipt of a formal (written) objection from any legitimate source for a limited period of time to be specified by the particular registrar.

To assist with potential disputes, VeriSign has created the Internationalized Domain Name Conversion Tool (ICT), which works as follows:

  1. Any user may input an internationalized domain name character string into the tool.
  1. The tool will perform the conversion and display
    1. The string after applying Name Preparation.
    2. The Punycode character string for the prepared domain name character string (e.g., xn--yal93qak4a).
  1. The user may then select either the Domain or Nameserver, then select the Query button to query VeriSign's WHOIS for the Punycode character string.
  1. Once the VeriSign WHOIS displays the appropriate registrar for the Punycode character string, the user may then continue with normal procedures for researching, preparing, and submitting a complaint under the UDRP.
