VIP Authentication APIs

The VIP Authentication Service is a two-factor authentication service fully hosted by VeriSign, based on open standards and enables a wide choice of credential form factors. It is powered by the VIP Network, which allows consumers to use a single credential across multiple sites.

The VIP Authentication Service can be integrated with account-based online applications to enable strong authentication with one-time passwords (OTP). The consumer’s identity and transaction information stays within your system; only the security code passes anonymously to VeriSign for validation.

VeriSign is providing the VIP Authentication APIs, which are based on SOAP Web Services, to help you integrate your online applications with the VIP Authentication Service. Integrating your online applications with the VIP Authentication Service is extremely simple; once the user inputs in the security code following successful username/password verification, the VIP Authentication Service validates the unique security code inputted by the user.

VIP Developer Test Drive

The VIP Test Drive for Developers gives developers access to the APIs that are being used in real-world deployments, but in a pilot environment. The pilot accounts are shared with other pilot accounts to simulate the advantages of shared authentication in a network. OTP or security codes are generated via software tokens.

The VIP Test Drive for Developers showcases the ease of use and deployment of the APIs used by the members of the VIP Network in integrating online applications with the VIP Authentication Service.
